Minsk region
Being the central part of the country Minsk region does not borders on foreign states..
Minsk region is founded in January 15, 1993. But if to believe the historians these lands had been inhabited in the Mesolithic period. In the second half of the 1st millennium A. D. Minsk Region lands were inhabited by the vast of krivichi and dregovichi. In IX century here the cities were founded which are nowadays placed on the Belarusian maps, such as Zaslavl (985), Minsk (1067), Logoysk (1078) — 1102, Borisov (1102), Slutsk (1116) and Kletsk (1127).
Since XX century Minsk Region lands were under the jurisdiction of Kiev Rus. At the end of the XIII century they were included in the composition of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Russian and Zheymotskiy. From the time of the unification of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with Poland in 1569 Minsk Region lands were part of federative state of Recz Pospolitaya till the end of the XVIII century. Having divided Poland between each other, the big states of the Russian Empire, Austria and Prussia, decided the fate of Minsk region, which became as a province of Russia.
During the Northern War the Swedish troops occupied the territory. Napoleon's troops passed through the Minsk region twice. This land was in a combat zone during the period of two world wars of the XX century.
On January 1, 1919 the Belorussian SSR was formed and Minsk became the capital of the Republic. The Great Patriotic War had left its scars on the Minsk lands and in the hearts of its citizens.
Nowadays Minsk region is in the shade of the Minsk capital. The tourists of this region pay the main attention to the landmarks of the main city of the country. It is quite unfairly to pass by the other large in numbers attractions of the region. The ancient Zaslavl, a celebrity of world importance Nesvizh, Borisov, which smashed the heart of the French and Napoleon's army, Dzerzhinovo, the Mecca of co-workers of the forces departments of the world. Just a list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus includes 667 facilities located in the Minsk region: 149 monuments of historical importance, 305 of archaeological monuments, 147 monuments of architecture, decoration and interior design of the five catholic churches and churches, 52 monuments of the estate and the palace and park art, 6 ancient parks.
At all times, Minsk region was in abundance of blood. The region has many memorable places connected with the historical battles that took place on this lands at all times. The obligatory tourist itinerary of almost all travel agencies includes the Mound of Glory and Khatyn. New in this season is Stalin’s Line Complex, which has immediately become a calling card of the region. This historical and cultural complex, located on the territory of the Minsk fortified area, was among the places visited by numerous governmental and diplomatic delegations arriving in Belarus.
There is a ramified network of roads in the Minsk region, so you can get from the capital of the Republic to any settlement of the region and the Republic just in a few hours. Major traffic flows are to the east - to Russia and the Asian region, to the north - to the ports of the Baltic Sea, to the west - to Europe and to the south - to the Black Sea region. There is a railway line across the region Brest - Minsk up to the Russian border. The most important railway junctions are Minsk, Molodechno.

They include the National Festival of Belarusian Song and Poetry of Molodechno, national festivals of the Belarusian Chamber Music in Zaslavl and “The Muses of Nesvizh” regional festival of folk art “Napeu zyaml³ mayoy” (My Land Chant), a regional festival of choreographic arts “Karagod syabrou” (Choir Dance of my Friends), regional festivals of theatrical creativity “Charouny kuferak “ (The Magic Cup) and “Byarez³nskaya rampa” (Berezin Ramp) and other festivals of arts, many knight tournaments, tourist and biker rallies.

National Library
The new National Library in Minsk was the hallmark of the city since the beginning of its construction.
On June 30, 2005 the official opening of the Stalin’s Line Historical and Cultural Complex took place. The complex is located within 6 km away from the direction of Zaslavl, Radoshkovichi – Molodechno, where the old border passed till 1939.
Dukes Radziwill brought international fame to the town of Nesvizh. In 1553, these famous and mysterious Belarusian nobility chose a quiet and small town as their permanent residence, nesvizh was practically rebuilt anew, having laid the churches, cathedrals and monasteries.
Mound of Glory Memorial Complex
At the 21-kilometer of the Minsk-Moscow highway there is the majestic Memorial Mound of Glory. This is the first memorial site, which is found by a tourist who has just arrived in Belarus on the way from the National Airport to the capital. The “Khatyn”State Memorial Complex, which became an international symbol of mourning and memory, keeps the memory of the 600 burned in the Belarusian villages during the Great Patriotic War.
Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Daily Life
The decision on the establishment of the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Daily Life was made by the Government of the Republic in 1976.
“Dudutki” Museum Complex of Ancient Crafts and Technologies
Museum of Material Culture of “Dudutki” is located within 40 kilometers from the capital of Belarus, Minsk, on the bank of the river Ptich.
“Logoisk” Ski Center
Belarus has its own “Switzerland”, a fabulously beautiful place near the town of Logoysk. Here the first Belarusian Ski Sports Complex is located.
