Rehabilitation tourism
From the almost forgotten folktales and ancient legends the deep-rooted belief in the healing power of nature is becoming stronger and stronger in us, the children of the hi-tech age. And this belief isn’t so naive. There are some springs with revitalizing water and a touch to the ground can charge you with new energy.
The contemporary science approves of the old folktales truthfulness: Belarus actually possesses a variety of resources for the development of therapeutical and rehabilitation tourism. The fund of healing resources including a complex of climatic factors alongside with mineral water springs and medicinal peloids facilitates the treatment of quite a range of diseases.

Belarus provides exclusive conditions for the climatic therapy:
The summer is drier and warmer here than the one in the West (Poland and the Baltic Sea countries), the winter is frosty and stable, and wet periods of snow melting are traditionally short.

Mineral water and healing mud are widely used in treatment courses.
Belarusian mineral waters of healing power are nitrogenous and can be divided into four groups:
— Sulphate-calcium, magnesium-calcium, magnesium-sodium-calcium waters of 2 to 5 g/l salinity (spread in the central and north-western regions of the country) are used for the digestion system organs and bile-excreting ways therapy.
— Sulphate-chloride of 2 to 15 g/l salinity (spread in the central and north-western regions of the country) are used for gastrointestinal organs, liver, peripheral nerve system therapy, etc.
— Sulphate-chloride,calcic-natrium and magnesium-calcium of 2 to 15 g/l salinity (spread in the central and western regions of the country) are used for gastrointestinal organs and metabolism disorder therapy.
— Chloride-natrium and calcium-natrium of 2 to 430 g/l salinity (widely-spread over the whole country) are used for blood circulation organs, respiratory apparatus therapy.

In a range of places of Belarusian Polessye, for instance, in Yelsk there are sulphid (hydrogensulphidous) waters, similar to the waters of Mazesta (the resort of Sochi (the Crimea) in their composition.Furthermore, there are the springs with the high salinity of bromine and iodine as well. Some regions of Belarus such as Mosty and Novogroudok areas are rich in radon waters of low salinity. Healing peloids of Belarus are represented by the two types: peat peloids (12 deposits) and sapropelic peloids (20 deposits).
Belarusian resort sanatoriums network includes ones for children located both within the territory of Belarus and abroad.
Respiratory apparatus diseases are treated in the sanatoria such as «Alesya», «Boroyus», «Bug», «Lettsy», «Rassvet», «Svisloch», «Praleska», «Nieman-72» (for children) and in «Byelorussia» (Jurmala), «Byelorussia» (Myskhor), «Belaya Rus» (Tuapse).
