Lake Naroch National Park (Narochanski)
Lake Naroch National Park is located in the northwest of Belarus. It occupies the territory of Minsk Region’s Myadel and Vileika districts, Vitebsk Region’s Postavy District and Grodno Region’s Smorgon District. The administration office is situated in the town of Naroch.

The park was formed in 1999 to preserve the unique local environment and ensure the efficient use of natural resources.

The park’s fauna counts around 900 plant species including over 30 endangered ones. Part of the park called Golubye Ozera (blue lakes) is a botanical area of international importance.

Rare fowl species found at Lake Naroch National Park include the snow grouse and the goosander.

Visitors interested in the history of the area can choose from a wide variety of bus and perestrian excursions. Some of them provide the possibility to visit the cathedral (16-18 centuries) in the town of Budslav that keeps Belarus’ major Roman catholic relic — the winder-working icon of Virgin Maria.
In addition, the park has many other historical sites, such as Mesolithic settlements near the villages of Kusevschina, Strugolapy, Laposi, Krasyany and Neolithic items by the villages of Nikoltsy and Kochergi, ancient ceramic facilities near Nikoltsy, Rybki, Rassokhi and Iron Age barrows and ruins near Oleshki, Guski, Shklyanikovo and Zasvir.
Local monuments of architecture include numerous churches, mansions and parks.
The park’s recreation zone has a lot of spa resorts and rehabilitation centers, such as Priozerny, Sosny, Naroch, Sputnik, Narochanski Bereg, Zhuravushka, Narochanka, Naroch tourist camp, Chaika and Rudakovo recreation centers, children’s medical rehabilitation center and children’s recreation camp Zubryonok.

The park offers a wide amusement program with water attractions, horse-riding classes a cafe located on board a steamship. An aquapark will open in Narochanski National Park in 2008.
