Walking in the Shadow of Forests

The moderate continental climate, clean air and landscapes, untouched by man, attract to Belarus those, who like quiet rest in the natural surroundings. Forests take one third of the territory and are considered the national wealth. Swamps take 13% of the territory of the Republic and are of significant climatic and hydrologic importance. National parks, reserves, monuments of nature are created in Belarus to preserve and increase the number of rare and disappearing species of flora and fauna, to organize the monitoring of the nature changes. The territory to preserve is about 7% of the whole territory of the Republic.

The biggest parks are: National parks “Belovezhskaya pushcha”, “Braslavskiye Oziora”, “Pripiatsky”, “Narochansky”; Berezina biosphere and Polesye Radiation Ecological reserve and others. The National Parks and nature reserves of Belarus protect the virgin nature and rare species of flora and fauna. Nowadays ecological tourism develops successfully here. The National Park “Belovezhskaya Pushcha” is inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is a territory of natural development without man’s interference. The National Park “The Braslav Lakes” attracts tourists by the unique beauty of the lakes and forests.

Feeling the Taste of Adventures

Belarus is mainly a flat country, and it may seem that mountainous skiing and snowboarding cannot be practiced here. But it is far from reality. Ski resorts, opened at the end of the 1990s and beginning of the 2000s, initiated the development of these kinds of sport. Today, not only citizens of Belarus, but also residents of the neighboring countries come here to enjoy winter sports.

The ski resorts are opened from the beginning of winter till the middle of spring. During the whole season, the tracks are in excellent condition; artificial snow compensates the absence of natural snow in case of unfavorable weather. Besides mountainous skiing and snowboarding, you will be offered sleigh and snowmobile rides, as well as winter paintball. If tired from various activities, you can refresh yourselves in cozy cafes; comfortable hotels will provide accommodation if you do not plan to return home in the evening.

In summer season, windsurfing, yachting, water skiing, diving, boat-racing and water slalom are paid special attention to. Natural and artificial waters provide all the necessary facilities to go in for these kinds of sport.

Keen hunters will appreciate the Belarusian hunting grounds. The abundance of wild animals, the comfortable atmosphere at the lodge and professional assistants guarantee good hunting.

Belarus gives a good possibility to be alone with the wildlife, to be captured by its beauty and to feel being a part of nature. It is a country of fantastic and unspoiled natural areas and is of special interest for big funs of fishing. It is famous for its diversity of fish, unique natural conditions, more than 10000 clean lakes and about 20000 rivers.

Walking tours and horseback riding are widely spread in Belarus. There exist routes of different extents of complexity. Water tours are extremely popular. Communicating rivers and lakes allow to reach any part of the country using waterways.
